The team at Fashion Journal shared their personal favorites, ranging from a $4 drugstore staple to a cult Korean overnight treatment.
What the FJ team reaches for every day
Daisy Henry, the assistant editor, swears by the Vaseline Lip Balm Original Stick. It costs about $4 at Chemist Warehouse and is, she said, her most-used lip product. Her lips are sensitive, but she finds it gentle, hydrating, and it adds a natural sheen. She would “quite literally lose my mind without it.”
Lara Daly, the senior editor, picks the Tocobo Lip Balm, which she bought purely for its glass packaging. It became her favorite overnight lip treatment. She described it as a thick, glossy jelly texture that seals in moisture, calling it a dupe for the Tatcha Kissu mask, which costs $48.

Jade Nacionales, an intern, recommended the Ole Henriksen Pout Peptide Lip Treatment in the Cocoa Creme shade. She said it provides both moisture and a subtle tint, and has some of the best staying power on the market.
Overnight treatments and cult classics
Jillian Arcenas, content and production coordinator, picked the Malin and Goetz Lip Moisturiser. She loved the packaging but stayed for the formula — simple and reliable. She called it an everyday essential she never leaves home without.
Jade Nacionales also recommended Clinique Black Honey Almost Lipstick, which is more of a balm than a lipstick. She uses it for a flush of color that matches anything, either alone or with a lip liner. She noted it’s been around for a long time for a reason — a cult classic.

Lara Daly discovered the Nuxe honey lip balm while stuck in a Mexico City airport. She described the scent as orange blossom and the texture as thick and gritty, like the goop in an almond croissant, melting into lips when rubbed in. Now available at Chemist Warehouse, it’s a desk mainstay for her.
Daisy Henry picked the Mario Badescu Vanilla Lip Wax during a Mecca haul. It costs $10 and contains beeswax, jojoba oil, and vitamin E. Jillian Arcenas also chose the Glossier Balm Dot Com Lip Balm and Skin Salve. She had wanted to try Glossier for years, and when it launched in Australia, Balm Dotcom became the standout. She prefers the Birthday Cake shade, which she described as a clear gloss with subtle shimmer.
